Backyard Birding

Backyard birding brings me back.

Back to nature. Back to awe. Back to reality.

That a gray, dreary snow day, like this shot I took from a few winters back, can be sparked to life by five drab black birds speaks volumes about how captivating avian creatures can be.

A row of pigeons pausing on a wire. A team of buzzards soaring in the air. A lone hummingbird zipping from flowery sip to flowery sip.

Each specie of bird has its own array of quirks and brings its own brand of entertainment and intrigue to the backyard. Or wherever it may be that they swoop into your presence.

Keep an eye on the birds.

They’ll bring you back to seeing the world in new ways.
