A few years ago when I first got my camera, an entry-level DSLR that I still use, I was playing around and dropped a bunch of my daughter’s bracelet beads on a mirror to snap a shot.
I kind of like the result.
But interestingly, the red background on the mirror was not the color of the reflection visible to me on the mirror. The reflection was actually a pretty drab whitish-tannish hue.
For whatever reason (which is probably pretty simple but I have no obvious explanation) the blah reflection color zapped to red when I snapped the shutter.
I’m not going to say it’s up there with the accidental discovery of the pacemaker or a monkey selfie photo. But I still dig it. And that’s fine by me.
With that, let’s close with a quote that has nothing to do with photography, but, perhaps accidentally, works here anyway:
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky or perhaps somebody else altogether depending on which website you (accidentally) come across
