An Improbable Birthday Celebration

As I write this, my 30s are fizzling out and my 40s are sparking to life.

Yes, it’s my birthday and I’m celebrating by sharing words with you. Thank you for reading, and enjoying this occasion with me. You’re alright!

Truthfully, I don’t really put much thought into birthdays or age, but I will pontificate about a different number: the ratio of 1 in 400 trillion.

This is the back-of-the-envelope calculated chance of me (or you or anybody else) being born.

Makes a number like 40 look pretty darn dinky, doesn’t it? Mathematically speaking, we probably shouldn’t even exist.

On that note, it’s my bedtime.

Happy birth improbability day to all of us.
